‘Sh’ Sound

Consonant Cluster - Sh

This one minute phonics activity works on the sh, ch and th sounds. The children must match the pictures to the consonant cluster. Some of the pictures have different consonant clusters to challenge your class and ensure they differentiate sounds.

The activity card in each cluster encourages the children to have a go at spelling a few of the sh, ch or th words, complete the sentences and finally, write their own sentence to consolidate the chosen sh word in the context of a sentence.

Sh Word Chooser

In this worksheet the children must look at the picture and circle the correct ‘sh’ word. This worksheet focuses on word recognition.

Sh Word Creator

In this worksheet the children must look at the picture and think of the ‘sh’ word. The children must then decide which sounds/ blends create the word.

This is a great worksheet to allow children to break up words into the different sounds.

Sh Match

This worksheet focuses on matching the ‘sh’ words to the pictures. This activity focuses on the children looking at the ‘sh’ sound at the beginning and end of words as well as working on other blends such as ‘br’, ‘cr’ and ‘fl’.

Sh Wordsearch

Children always love trying to find word in a word search. This ‘sh’ word search is fantastic as it has picture to accompany the words to allow your LA learners to have a go.

You could also remove the pictures to challenge your HA learners.

Sh Unscramble

In this worksheet the children must look at the picture, unscramble the sounds and create the ‘sh’ word.

This is a great worksheet to allow children to break up words into the different sounds.

Sharon the Shark - 'sh'

The children are challenged to add in the full stops to ensure the story flows. There are 6 full stops to add in and 16 ‘sh’ words to find within the story.

In the activity card, the children must complete the sentences by adding in the missing word. The children can write the sentences out in their book and add in the capital letters and full stops.
